Long Weekend Sydney — Make Labour Day 2026 at The Heritage Precinct, Parramatta
The NSW Labour Day long weekend falls on Monday 5 October 2026 — three days, and for most of Sydney, no fixed plan yet. A long weekend is worth more than a lie-in and a load of washing. The Heritage Precinct, Parramatta, turns any one of those three nights into the best part of the weekend, with three venues built for exactly the kind of evening a long weekend is supposed to make room for.
Saturday or Sunday — The Complete Evening
Heritage Lounge opens from 3pm on weekends — the natural start, with the LIBATION TREASURY cocktail menu and a back bar that includes Decanter No. 69 of the Gordon & MacPhail Generations Glenlivet 1940, 80 Year Old. From there, Oribu — the AGFG Chef-Hatted Japanese restaurant, open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm — takes the evening through its seasonal omakase menu. Le Cheval closes the night with Cuban cigars and cognac, at its own pace, with no reason to watch the clock on a long weekend.
Monday — Whisky and Cigars to Close the Weekend
Oribu keeps to its usual Wednesday-to-Sunday hours, so Monday itself is not a dinner night at the precinct. It is, however, a Heritage Lounge and Le Cheval night: both open from 4pm on weekdays, which includes the public holiday. For a long weekend that has already had its big dinner, Monday is the quieter half — the back bar, the humidor, and nowhere else to be before the alarm goes off on Tuesday.
The Occasion Either Way
Whichever night is chosen, the fundamentals don’t change: a rare spirits programme most Sydney venues can’t match, an AGFG Chef Hat that Parramatta holds nowhere else, and a Cuban cigar room with a house roll available nowhere else in Australia — all inside a Circa 1928 former Bank of New South Wales that was built to feel significant long before anyone was searching for a long weekend plan.
