夏の物語 Natsu no Monogatari Has Arrived — The Summer Story Begins at The Heritage Precinct Parramatta

The building at 215 Church Street, Parramatta has stood since 1928. It has seen every season that Parramatta has produced — every winter that settled into the sandstone, every spring that arrived without announcement. This spring, something new begins within its walls. Oribu’s summer menu — 夏の物語, Natsu no Monogatari, A Summer Story — launches this week, and with it the second seasonal chapter of The Heritage Precinct’s 2026 programme begins.

夏の物語 — What the Name Carries

Monogatari — 物語 — is one of the oldest and most resonant words in Japanese literature. The form gave the world The Tale of Genji; the tradition shaped a civilisation’s understanding of beauty, impermanence, and the passage of the seasons. When Oribu names its summer menu 夏の物語 — A Summer Story — it is not being poetic for decoration. It is placing the kitchen’s seasonal work within a tradition that treats cooking as a form of narrative: the season as the subject, each course a sentence, the full progression a story told from first light to last. Beneath the fifty-year-old olive tree, the winter story ends and the summer story begins.

World Sake Day Is Coming — Thursday 1 October

World Sake Day falls on Thursday 1 October — in two weeks. Heritage Lounge at The Heritage Precinct holds one of Western Sydney’s most considered sake lists, and World Sake Day is the occasion to experience it with guided intention. The spring sake programme — cold Junmai Daiginjo in wine glasses, the Dassai 23 served at cellar temperature, the lighter and more fragrant expressions that suit the warmer evenings — is live now. Contact theheritageprecinct.com.au to arrange a World Sake Day tasting or simply arrive on October 1 for the full programme.

Heritage Lounge and Le Cheval in the New Season

Heritage Lounge’s spring cocktail programme is live: the Anomaly, the Withdrawal, the Bankers Vacation, the Yuzu Dividend from the Oribu Collection, cold sake in wine glasses. The seasonal shift that the cocktail menu makes from winter to spring is one of the bar’s most significant annual transitions — lighter, more precise, technically more demanding. Le Cheval’s spring cigar programme has adjusted toward medium-bodied expressions and the lighter cognac pairings that warmer evenings warrant. The exclusive house cigars, rolled by Hector Luis and the Robaina family, available only here, are as present in spring as they are in winter.

The Heritage Precinct is at Level 1, 215–217 Church Street, Parramatta. Oribu is open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm. Heritage Lounge and Le Cheval open daily — Monday to Friday from 4pm, weekends from 3pm. Book at theheritageprecinct.com.au. For guests from Castle Hill, Norwest, Hills District, Blacktown, Penrith, Liverpool, and across Western Sydney — the summer story has begun.
