World Sake Day 1 October — The Heritage Precinct and One of Western Sydney’s Finest Sake Programmes
World Sake Day falls on October 1 each year — the traditional first day of the Japanese sake brewing season, when the new rice harvest is ready and the toji (master brewers) begin their most important work of the year. In Japan, it is a day of ceremony and renewal. At The Heritage Precinct in Parramatta, it is the occasion to explore one of the most carefully assembled sake programmes available at any bar in Western Sydney.
The Heritage Precinct at Level 1, 215–217 Church Street, Parramatta, houses Heritage Lounge — a cocktail lounge, rare spirits, wine and sake bar — which holds a sake list that runs from accessible Junmai Ginjo expressions through to the Niizawa Zankyo Super 7 (produced with only 7% of the original rice remaining after polishing) and the Katsuyama Diamond-Akatsuki, reserved for the most special occasions. Alongside it, Oribu — the AGFG Chef-Hatted Japanese restaurant — serves the 夏の物語 summer menu, for which sake is not an optional pairing but a structural one.
How to Mark World Sake Day at The Heritage Precinct
The natural World Sake Day sequence: arrive at Heritage Lounge from 4pm and allow the bar team to guide a sake introduction tailored to your starting point and interests. The bar team on October 1 will be guiding guests specifically through the full sake list — from the accessible Ginjo expressions through to the Junmai Daiginjo collection and the ultra-premium tier. A 45-minute guided sake exploration before an Oribu dinner reservation is the recommendation. Then to Oribu from 5pm, where the 夏の物語 summer menu and the sake pairings the Heritage Lounge team has suggested come together at the table.
World Food Day — 16 October, Coming Up
World Food Day falls on Friday 16 October — in two weeks. The Heritage Precinct will be marking it as an occasion to celebrate the philosophy of provenance, quality, and seasonal cooking that defines both the Oribu kitchen and the Heritage Lounge drinks programme. More detail in the coming weeks — but if you are planning to celebrate World Food Day in Parramatta, begin planning a Heritage Precinct visit now.
